A conversation derived from the METAPhilosophy argument about efforts to understand consciousness through thought experiments (gedanken experiments).
The p-zombie (philosophical zombie) argument originates from David Chalmers, an Australian philosopher renowned for his work in the philosophy of mind and consciousness.
Chalmers introduced the p-zombie argument in his book "The Conscious Mind" (1996) as part of his effort to demonstrate that consciousness cannot be fully explained by physicalism or materialism. A p-zombie is an entity that is physically identical to a human but lacks subjective experience or consciousness (qualia).
Through this argument, Chalmers aims to show that the existence of p-zombies is conceptually possible, and therefore, consciousness must involve something beyond merely physical processes.
